User mode settings

  • Standalone Mode

The extension is ready to be used even if it is not connected to Visual Studio Team Service or Team Foundation Server. This mode has a limited feature. The team can only capture images and add notes. Any capture images and notes are available for export in html type.

  • Connected Mode

The extension connects to Visual Studio Team Service or Team Foundation Server to perform logging of bugs, creation of tasks, creation of test cases and providing of feedbacks

Users Access Level

  • Basic

Submits bugs, tasks, and test cases with end to end traceability through action steps, notes, captured images, and recorded screen with audio.

  • Stakeholder

Submits bugs, tasks, and provides feedback with end to end traceability through action steps, notes, captured images, and recorded screen with audio.

Let’s Start

  1. Install Test and Feedback extension in your browser (Available in Google Chrome and Firefox browsers only)
  2. Set user mode

 

How to Log a Bug

  1. Start session.

  1. Select Capture screenshot.

  1. Capture any area of the browser.

  1. Select View Session Timeline.

  1. Click Create bug.

  1. Type the name of the bug.

  1. The bug created will be added in the session timeline with hyperlink

  1. Click the Bug to get navigated to the details of the bug created in Visual Studio Team Service.

  1. Go back to the browser. Click the Record screen then click Start recording.

  1. Do any actions. All actions are record while recording is running then click Stop recording.

How to Create Task

  1. Start the session. Record everything that needs to be included in the creation of task. After having all the actions recorded, click Create task.

  1. Add name of the task. In the details, recording of captured images and videos is applied and text values are editable. Created task will appear in session timeline. Click the task to get navigated to its created record in the Visual Studio Team Service.

How to Create Test Case

  1. Start the session. Record everything that needs to be included in the creation of text case. After having all the actions recorded, click Create test case. Click the created Test case link to get navigated to its created record in the Visual Studio Team Service.

How to Provide Feedback

To be able to perform providing of feedback, Stakeholder should be the access role of the user. Non-stakeholder (Basic) access roles are the ones who have Request Feedback option.

  1. Navigate to the user story. Click the three-dots button on the furthest right of the window and select Request feedback.

  1. Add the user to whom the request to be sent. Add the details of the request.

  1. An automatic email will be sent to the users included to whom the request is sent.

  1. The user who has the stakeholder access role will be able to see the request feedback. Session will automatically start. Recording of everything that needs to be checked is done and log bugs or tasks if needed.

  1. If the requirements are met, click Provide feedback.

  1. Navigate to the session timeline and click the link of the created feedback.

Test and Feedback is a great tool to effectively collaborate to the members of the team. Members of the team used to misunderstand requirements and reported bugs the will result to a time-consuming development or bug fixing stage. A follow up inquiries will always occur between developers or support engineers and stakeholders, product owner or testers to clarify the requirement or the issue encountered just to make sure a quality product will be released.
