As you know, the Organisational Insights dashboard was first introduced in 2016. This has now been extended with some really cool new metrics (mainly performance analytics) for your Dynamics Online environment across multiple dashboards.
As opposed to just a dashboard with 6 metrics, these new stats come in the form of a solution package hosted through AppSource.
To install this, you still need to enable it in your System Settings under Preview tab.
On the Dynamics 365 home page click on Click on AppSource button to bring up the list of Apps.
On the search box type in ‘org’ to bring up the app and click on ‘Get it now’.
Tick all the boxes and click on ‘Agree’ to install the solution.
Once it has been installed, you can access this dashboard under the Settings within Dynamics 365.
Most of these metrics appear in the previous Org Insights dashboard. This is really helpful in terms of troubleshooting performances issues in order to analyse which users are doing the most read on what record types and also determining where all the CRUD operations are coming from.
This is a great place to find out what’s going on if you have a system that is heavily dependent on workflows. Before the only way to was to go through the list of system jobs and to open up each record to find more info about it. You can mouse over the ‘System Jobs and Backlog’ graph to determine how many workflows were executed every hour.
This is handy to identify which plugins are firing too often or when they shouldn’t be. Previously we had to get the plugins to fire and then investigate then analyse the corresponding plug in trace log record.
When you have multiple this will give a very good picture of how space is being allocated across the different environments. You can also determine which entity is taking up the most amount of space and act accordingly to clear up some space.
For those who are familiar with the webservice API you can actually see which one is being called the most. You can also drill into the ones that failed to determine the cause of the error.
On your Home page you are able to add more metric tiles by click on the ‘+’ button and then click on the disk icon to save.
Like in PowerBi all tiles are resizeable and movable on the dashboard
You can filter results by the calendar date and time
All charts have the option of exporting the records to Excel in CSV format.
As you can see Organisation Insights solution provide is very helpful metrics at a glance to assist in troubleshooting and monitoring D365 performance issues. This has made life so much easier when doing these tasks
