dynamics crm mobile usability controlsUsability is all about Good information architecture – Understanding your audience’s MENTAL MODELS and how they expect us to structure the content and controls of the site. Also, this can be sharpened through simplicity, familiarity, consistency, flexibility, efficiency and easy navigation.

As a major winning point, Microsoft Dynamics CRM has improved mobile usability by introducing a few controls. And this blog will give you a little bit of taste of those controls in two parts as follows:

  1. My 6 favourite controls
  2. Rest of the controls – Flip switch, Website preview, Number input, Auto-Complete, Input mask, Bullet graph, Arc knob, Calendar control phone & tablet.

My 6 Favourite Mobile Usability Controls

Radial Knob

radial knobThis is my favourite control where you can see numeric values in the circular presentation. As you would feel, it is easy to click and drag the control clockwise and anticlockwise to increase and decrease values accordingly.

Option Set

option setThis is for relatively short options sets. The user will be able to see selected and other options easily at once. One tap can change the value quickly.

This can be used to replace numeric values on a scale of 0-5. The user feels happy and enthusiastic to play with this control rather than changing the numbers.

Linear Slider

linear sliderThis is a control where you can represent numbers or currencies in a linear manner. Here you can configure minimum, maximum and step values accordingly.

Pen Control

pen controlWith my experience, this was one of the major requirements of few clients, and it is now available with the new controller. Particularly, now we have the capability of getting the signature (at least short signature). Field workers could embrace this feature due to its simplicity to get a signature or text quickly and easily.

Multimedia control

multimedia controlNow we can play multimedia files directly in the application, which could lead to visually powerful sales and good case management, etc.
