Have you ever faced a requirement of importing or exporting the backlogs into VSTS? Well, this looks simple and achieving this is simple till the point you need two create or export few requirements or user story. But what if you need to create the requirements or user story in hundreds and thousands.

What’s the solution then?

You just have to follow the below steps and with the help of Microsoft excel, all get done very quickly

Step 1: If you don’t have Office Excel 2007 or a more recent version, install it.

Sep 2: If you haven’t installed a version of Visual Studio (2010 or later) or the Team Foundation Server Standalone Office Integration 2015 (free), you’ll need to install one of these versions to connect to a team project hosted on Visual Studio Team Services (VSTS) or an on-premises TFS.

Step 3: Download Team Foundation Server Standalone Office Integration 2015 on https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=49992

Feature availability:  The only way to get the Team Foundation add-in to Excel is by installing one of the latest editions of Visual Studio or TFS Standalone Office Integration.

Step 4: In Excel, start with a blank worksheet. If you don’t see the Team ribbon (or the Team menu if you use Excel 2007), see step 3.

Step 5: Connect to your team project hosted in Visual Studio Team Services or an on-premises TFS where you want to add work items. If you can’t connect, get added as a team member.

Step 6: Your worksheet is now bound to your team project as a flat list. What this means is that you can add work items to the team project from the worksheet or add work items to the worksheet from the team project.
